About the Role

The City of Towanda is currently accepting applications for a full time City Superintendent. The City Superintendent will work alongside the maintenance staff and report daily to the City Administrator and monthly to the City Council. This is a “hands-on,” physically demanding position. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, overseeing water and wastewater treatment, streets, sidewalks, parks, snow removal, maintenance of City equipment and buildings, assisting with capital improvement programs, and other general maintenance as assigned.

Requirements

• Valid Kansas Driver’s License required

• High School diploma or equivalent required

 

Applicant should possess managerial skills in these areas:

• Inter-personal communication

• Public relations

• Problem solving

• Supervision, people, and asset management

• Common computer software, Word, Excel, etc.

Applicant should possess working knowledge in these areas:

• Concrete and flatwork

• Mowing and landscaping

• Heavy equipment operation and maintenance

• General framing/construction

• Water and sewer line repair and maintenance

• Water distributions and sewer collections

• Electrical systems

• Street repair and maintenance

 

We prefer the candidate have:

• Five years superintendent/public works director or similar experience required (municipal experience preferred)

• Three years supervisory experience

• Class 1 Water Treatment

• Class 1 Wastewater Treatment
