Upcoming Railroad Crossing Maintenance

According to the lead railroad technition for our area, the section of railroad tracks that run through Towanda has not been revamped or maintained properly for approximately twenty years. The recent local fire forced the railroad to focus on our area and push maintenance of these tracks to the front of the line. They are trying to get the repairs and new intersections done quickly.

The S. 3rd St. and S. 5th St. street crossings will be replaced on Tuesday, April 25, 2023. They will be temporarily filled in so that traffic can continue as soon as the next day; however, they will be closed again on May 2nd and 3rd for the completion work. 

The next phase of maintenance will occur over the next couple of weeks. The following crossings will be closed and completely rebuilt, more than likely, one at a time.
